This is the Eight Legged Freak - Kumo. I took a raw Vs. Newton Yo-yo Concepts Battosai and cut the rims down to accept hand made 4A rims. Then I cut super thick Barking Spider Gummies to fit in the silicone groove. This was going to be my 2011 World Mod Contest entry and later was to be a collab between Vs. Newton, Jason Wong, and myself. The project was going to include a chopped Battosai, anodized by Jason Wong, including 4 different sets of hand made rims for various style options, a collab t-shirt, and many other fun ideas we were throwing around.
VsNYYC Skywalker rim repair.
A while back OneDrop offered mod fodder support kits for dirt cheap. As soon as I heard about it I jumped on it. They sent me what equated to 4 unfinished Y-Factors. It took a while to finally get around to modding one but here it is. I really wanted a Werrd Split Decision but couldn't find one I could afford. So, I finished the bearing seat and response area. Then I cut down the rims to accept Werrd Split Decision rims. I made the Y-Factor hub match the dimensions of the Split Decision spot on. In the end it weighed 2 grams heavier but I prefer heavier yo-yoes so that was fine. I have been experimenting with different rim styles including making rims out of different yo-yoes.

I performed a rim repair of sort to this Custom Mag Yo-yo using a sanding sponge. The end result was a sort of fade from the ano to raw aluminum.
